For this year’s project week, students learned and practiced using Aristotle’s three principles of rhetoric: ethos, pathos, and logos in the form of various debates on not-so-controversial topics.

The objective of this project was to not only prepare students to make more critical arguments in the future but to also give them the tools to recognize persuasive techniques present in advertising and debates. Students demonstrated this understanding in the final section of our project: the Great Debate.

The final debate, which was filmed and edited also by the students, concerned the topic of ‚Night versus Day–which is better?‘. However, throughout the week, students tested their skills at other various topics: cities vs. villages; pizza vs. pasta; darkness vs. lightness; DV vs. Marvel; ebooks vs. physical books.
